A Song for Sting (aka Gordon Sumner)

Sting, sing a song
Keep it simple
Keep it long
Don't worry if it's not good enough
For anyone else to hear
Just Sting, sing a song

Sting, sing a song,
Keep it boring
Keep it angst ridden
Don't worry if it does or doesn't rhyme
Cos no one but you really cares
Just Sting, sing a song

Sting, sing a song,
Keep it monotonous
Keep it montone
Don't worry if it drives me mad
Cos I'm on anti-depressants
Just Sting, sing a song

Sting, sing a song
Make it a hit
Even though it's *hit
Don't worry if they find me dead
I'll be happy if you're Number One
Just Sting, sing a song

Sting, sing a song
Keep it repeating
Till the world combusts
Don't worry about nuclear war
Your song will do the same trick
Just Sting, sing a song

Sting, sing a song
Keep it repeating
Ditto
Ditto
Ditto
Don't worry if I want to shoot myself
So long as you're happy, that's fine
Just Sting, sing a song

Sting, sing a song
Keep it repeating
And repeating
Ditto
Ditto
Ditto
Don't worry if it fades away
Cos no one will be left to hear
Just Sting, sing a song
Sing a song
Sing a song
Sing a son....

Yes, Dear Readers, I am happy to inform you that the lovely Sting will soon be releasing his first  full length album of (original) material since 2003. It is called The Last Ship and it will, so I understand, feature songs he has written about the shipbuilding industry in the North of England. I look forward to this creative, intriguing and, no doubt, inspiring album with the same anticipation and excitement that I look forward to changing my underwear.

I love you, Sting. Don't ever stop singing. Just stop.

  1. Couldn't agree more. He's a git. Just in case you think it's just us, here's a video of the great Richard Thompson (a proper songwriter and a proper musician), performing "Here Comes Geordie" in 2011.
Although he doesn't mention him by name, make no mistake, it's Sting he's singing about.
